Aisha Naamani is a Welsh and Lebanese dance artist, choreographer, and movement facilitator based in the UK.

Her artistic voice is uniquely defined by its multidisciplinary texture, weaving together contemporary choreography, physical theatre, clowning, electronic and classical music, and spoken word to create performances rooted in an exploration of the human experience. Through her creative research, she investigates how individual identity intersects with community, blending themes of dual heritage, multiculturalism, womanhood, rave culture, and socio-politics. Holding a First-Class Honours degree (1:1) and Master’s degree with Distinction from the London Contemporary Dance School (The Place), her multifaceted practice spans freelance performance, idiosyncratic choreography, and holistic somatic education.

As a performer, Aisha’s career encompasses a decade of extensive national and international touring across prestigious stage, screen, and site-specific contexts. Following a multi-year tenure as a full-time company dancer with National Dance Company Wales, she continues to expand her freelance portfolio. Her performance methodology relies heavily on physical versatility, allowing her to fluidly navigate both the raw mechanics of high-concept contemporary movement and the playful, character-driven spontaneity of theatrical storytelling. Aisha has collaborated with over 50 visionary directors, choreographers, and artists, including Marianne Elliott, Hector Harkness, Andrea Costanzo Martini, Hanan Issa, and Fernando Melo, and has performed works by groundbreaking choreographers such as Nigel Charnock, Marcos Morau (La Veronal), Tom Jackson Greaves and Liv Lorent. Her performance credits feature prominent institutions and companies, including the National Theatre (Les Liaisons Dangereuses), balletLORENT (Snow White, The Sacrifice, and The Becoming), and Wildworks Landscape Theatre and more. These collaborations have brought her to world-leading venues, including Sadler's Wells Theatre, Sadler's Wells East, the Lyttelton Theatre (NT), the Stade de France, the Linbury Theatre (Royal Opera House), the Southbank Centre and others.

As an independent choreographer and collaborator, Aisha crafts visceral, reflective works that ground complex sociopolitical narratives in kinetic, emotionally driven landscapes. Alongside abstract movement, her choreographic toolset frequently integrates immersive electronic and classical music scores, physical theatre, and spoken word. Driven by narrative and an instinct for building accessible bridges, she invites audiences into complex conceptual spaces by juxtaposing subversion, wit, grief and linguistic play with intricate movement, delving deeply into the universal desire for belonging, the nuances of relationships, and the absurdities of modern life to render her work both thought-provoking and human.

Aisha’s practice extends into the frames of screen, commercial, and independent arthouse cinema. She is interested in where dance can live in both the mainstream and guerilla. Her physical language has lent its texture to commercial projects for brands like Hermès, while her performance via National Theatre Live (NT Live) was captured for cinema audiences worldwide. Drawn equally to the intimate scale of independent cinema, she also starred as the lead dancer in On This Occasion, a dance film directed by Jen Fletcher.

Aisha continuously seeks to foster an environment where authentic self-expression and personal discovery can thrive. As an educator and movement facilitator, she works as a regular guest lecturer for leading universities, performing arts institutions, and acclaimed dance companies. Her teaching methodologies explore anatomical spirals, breath work, and dynamic weight shifts, while incorporating elements of theatrical expression and somatic playfulness to bridge the gap between professional, pre-vocational, and community spaces. She is experienced in facilitating outreach programmes and choreographing for and with neurodiverse individuals, disabled and non-disabled artists and participants, and intergenerational groups.

Aisha holds qualifications as a 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha Yoga, and Meditation teacher, and has completed advanced studies in Mat Pilates.

Driven to explore the scope of physical storytelling and multidisciplinary creation, Aisha remains dedicated to shaping experiences that strike a visceral, emotional and cultural chord—drawing observers directly into the raw momentum and vulnerability of our collective humanity.
